Batman hosts one of the first settled lands in Anatolia, the Hallançemi Mound (Hallançemi Höyüğü) which has been inhabited since 11,000 BCE. It was continuously home to civilizations and even the capital city of civilizations from the Neolithic to the Ottoman period.

Batman is located in the Mesopotamian lands - the cradle of civilization , in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Türkiye, between the confluence of the Batman River and the Tigris River.
